I’m not very clever in rhyme,
And I find it hard to keep metered time,
But I see You everywhere.
Your handiwork in your creation
Your playfulness in the divine game of hide and seek.
You placed all your beautiful qualities in nature,
In the trees and the fields of wildflowers,
In the birds and their songs,
And in all the blossoms of spring.
But your finest character traits
You placed within me and my fellow man.
And everytime I hear my child speak
Or feel my lover’s lips pressed to mine,
I have found you there, right there
In the middle of it all.
And everytime, every time
I get a glimpse of your essence,
I know You a little better than I did before,
And I can certainly write about that.
