Thoughts on My Birthday

It was on this day, 12 Shevat, in 5741 that G-d called me out of my mother’s womb into this world. Thirty six years earlier (1945), the liberation of 2,800 Jews from Auschwitz occurred. The result of the Holocaust was the desire for and subsequent birth of the Jewish state in the Land that was promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and to their descendants forever.

Recently, I have been thinking about tribulation. I have come to believe that tribulation has been here since Yeshua ascended in order that we, His children be gathered together as One New Man. The ultimate goal of our Creator has always been to make us one People with one Torah in one Land ruled by One Righteous and Just King.

The prayer I pray on my birthday is that we would quite fighting and dividing amongst ourselves, vying for positions that we perceive as important, and realize that we have one Head, that is, Messiah Yeshua, and we are His Body.

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Messiah, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Romans 12:4-8)

We have each been given important functions, gifts, and callings. The tent pegs (or hooks) of the Tabernacle were not less important than the coverings, and the coverings were not less important than the sacred vessels. Everything in the Tabernacle was needed and important. Without the support beams, connectors, and hooks, the coverings were useless, and without the coverings, the sacred vessels would have had no place to be housed. All the parts of the Tabernacle were necessary so that the glory of G-d could dwell in the midst of His people. We, who have believed in Messiah Yeshua and keep His commandments (Revelation 12:17, ibid. 14:12), have been called to work in concert with each other, serving one another, so that G-d might be glorified through us amongst all the peoples of the earth.

“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of G-d’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of G-d; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that G-d supplies—in order that in everything G-d may be glorified through Yeshua Messiah. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Messiah’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Messiah, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of G-d rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a follower of Messiah, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify G-d in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of G-d; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of G-d? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to G-d’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. (1 Peter 4:7-19)

Psalm 133

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the L-RD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Shalom and blessings,
